Board of Director Alonzo “Lon” Kight, J.D.Lon Kight was born in New York City. Graduating from Scarsdale High School in 1932, he earned an AB degree from Harvard in 1936, LLB and JD degrees from Columbia Law School in 1940, a Master of Patent Law degree in 1942 from George Washington University, and Engineering Certificate from the University of Maryland in 1945, and an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1954. He is admitted to practice law in D.C., Illinois and before the Supreme Court of the U.S.

He began his business career in 1941 in the Patent Department of the Western Electric Co. in Washington, DC. He was commissioned an Ensign in the USNR in December 1943 and served as Legal Assistance and Patent Officer at the Naval Research Laboratory in Anacostia, MD until 1946. In 1948 he joined the Borg-Warner patent department. In 1955 he was elected vice president of Borg-Warner International, becoming president in 1961. He became president of the Norge Division of Borg-Warner in 1964. In 1969 he joined Rockwell International as Corporate Vice President with responsibility for expanding its international activities.

He served as director of numerous organizations, including American Bakeries Corp of Chicago, First Federal Savings & Loan of Chicago, America Boat, Inc. of Rockford, North American Biologicals Corp., Instrumentation Laboratories of Lexington, MA, Martin Memorial Foundation, Martin Memorial Health Systems and Piper’s Landing Inc.

Prior to retiring he was a member of the University Club of Chicago, the Lakeshore Club, The Chicago Yacht Club, The Harvard Club of NYC, The Field Club of Fox Chapel, the Duquesne Club of Pittsburg, Phi Delta Phi, and Beta Gamma Sigma.

He and Audrey reside in Pipers Landing, Palm City.
