Dr. Helena Tench

Board of Director Dr. Helena Tench Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Helena received her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Connecticut, after completing her education at the University of Massachusetts, the University of Hartford, and the Koningklijk Lyceum, Antwerp, Belgium. For sixteen years she served as Adjunct and Visiting professor, University of Hartford and Connecticut College.

She continued her career as Social Science editor, CHOICE Magazine, a publication of the Association of College and Research Libraries, American Library Association, and as Senior Editor, Social Sciences, Encyclopedia Americana.

She has been actively involved in literacy and education, including service as a Volunteer Tutor, Wethersfield Public Schools; Wethersfield Board of Education, 10 years, chair 2 years; Vice-President Connecticut Association of Boards of Education; Wethersfield Country Club, and Wethersfield Library Board.

She and her husband Orren live in Wethersfield, CT during the summers and reside in Pipers Landing where they enjoy visits from their three children and grandchildren.
