Recommended Bequest Language
The Library Foundation of Martin County, Inc. welcomes all forms of charitable giving, including bequests. You may want to consider leaving a legacy with a planned gift that will enable the Foundation to advance the programs and services of the Martin County Library System. We are available to work with you and your financial advisor to craft language that best represents your goals in considering a planned gift.
OPTION 1: Percentage of Estate for Unrestricted Purposes
I give, devise and bequeath to The Library Foundation of Martin County, Inc., a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization chartered in the State of Florida and located in Stuart, Florida, _ _ _ percent (%) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate as an unrestricted gift to be used at the discretion of the Foundation’s Board of Directors for general purposes in support of the Martin County Library System and in accordance with the Foundation’s policies.
OPTION 2: Specific Amount for Unrestricted Purposes
I give, devise and bequeath to The Library Foundation of Martin County, Inc., a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization chartered in the State of Florida and located in Stuart, Florida, the sum of $_ _ _ in cash (or _ _ _ shares of _ _ _ stock) to be used at the discretion of the Foundation’s Board of Directors for general purposes in support of the Martin County Library System and in accordance with Foundation policies.
OPTION 3: Percentage of Estate for Specific Purposes with an Endowment Provision
I give, devise and bequeath to The Library Foundation of Martin County, Inc., a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization chartered in the State of Florida and located in Stuart, Florida, _ _ _ percent (%) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to establish the _ _ _ _ _Endowed Fund. The principal of this funds shall be invested as part of the Foundation’s permanent endowment and in accordance with the Foundation’s policies. The fund’s income is to be used by the Foundation for the Library’s (select from: Public Programs, Youth Programs, Literacy Programs, Collections, or Technology Enhancements). Contributions may be added to the fund at any time. If changed circumstances should at some future time make it impractical to continue using the income from the fund for the purpose designated, then the Foundation’s Board of Directors may redesignate the purpose for which the fund’s income may be distributed, provided the fund shall continue to bear the name of _ _ _ _ _ Endowed Fund and that the amended terms shall adhere as closely as possible to my original intent.
OPTION 4: Specific Amount for Specific Purposes
I give, devise and bequeath to The Library Foundation of Martin County, Inc., a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization chartered in the State of Florida and located in Stuart, Florida, the sum of

If changed circumstances should at some future time make it impractical to continue using the income from the fund for the purpose designated, the Foundation’s Board of Directors may redesignate the purpose as closely as possible to my original purpose.
